Benkei is a great place for a budget meal. Located on Robson Street just east of the corner of Denman, the small shop serves up hearty bowls of ramen at a decent price. They also offer 3 different types of gyoza. I had the shrimp...gyoza. It was perfectly done. I had miso ramen with char siu. The broth was lovely, full of miso flavor without being overly salty. The ramen noodles were perfectly done.They had nice texture--al dente, not mushy or overcooked. Service was very quick and efficient. They were also very polite. The table next to mine was giving the server a difficult order and she handled it very well. I will definitely be returning to Benkei when I come back to Vancouver. If you want good ramen and can't get to Japan, this is a good place to come.
