We visited Victoria in late Sept 2021 and dined at Fishhook twice during our stay of 5 days. The food was outstanding and so was the service. Dishes were flavourful and unique. Covid protocols were followed and the restaurant was clean. Reservations are recommended, as…we dined early one evening and every table was reserved past 6pm. We will definitely return if we are in Victoria again.

Fabulous meal.

Fabulous meal. Just a short walk from the tourist downtown restaurants made a huge difference. It is a tiny restaurant with only about 10 seats – reservations are recommended. Portion sizes are large. Our small salads were the same size as a large salad downtown….And very fresh. For mains we had fish and chips and the seafood hot pot. Both were great. The hot pot had about 20 mussels in it, plus fish and other seafood and the broth was amazing. As I requested gluten free meal, they brought me 4 huge slices of gluten free bread. We left feeling extremely full and very happy.

Located near downtown Victoria, Fishhook offers up the freshest tasting fish I’ve had a restaurant.

Located near downtown Victoria, Fishhook offers up the freshest tasting fish I’ve had a restaurant. The Tuna Melt was enjoyed by daughter, the bisque with clams was outstanding, the chowder was enjoyed by all and the cod’n’chips were delicious. The food was cheap, but for…quality ingredients, and such fresh fish, we could not be happier. We enjoyed our window seats as we got to people watch. My wife was by far the most impressed with the offerings as I am typically a fish eater. That said, Fishhook was quality food as a reasonable price!!More

Quaint restaurant with a few tables.

Quaint restaurant with a few tables. Arrived at the restaurant and waited for some time until someone looked at our covid vaccinations (no scanner). Decided on the pekora battered fish and masala chips (salmon and cod) . The flavor was no different than regular fish…and chips. The batter was very crispy and and the fish was dry. Service was ok.

We split the pakora cod fritters that were ok.

We split the pakora cod fritters that were ok. I had the tuna melt which was very tasty with harissa and jalapeno. The harissa was too much and should have been less intense. My wife had the Caesar salad with shrimp and salmon. The salad…was overdressed with dressing.
