We were a foursome out for Sunday evening Thanksgiving dinner, having booked a table a couple of weeks back. On arrival we were seated promptly, and our drinks ordered and delivered without delay. Dinner was a three course affair, preceded by a delicious arancini amuse...guele. We tried all three of the starters, with the maple-pumpkin soup and roasted cauliflower with Brussels sprouts being the standouts. For mains one of us had the very good prime rib, while the rest of us dined on turkey, which was accompanied by cranberry sauce; wonderfully creamy mashed potatoes, carrots, green beans, and a very tasty stuffing. Disappointingly, though, the turkey and veg were drowned with gravy, which neither appeared on the menu nor was mentioned by the server (a prudent option might have been to serve it on the side). The multi-course dinner was substantial, so by the time dessert rilled around we chose to ask for our pear tarts to go (we’re very much looking forward to trying them tomorrow). Service was friendly and accommodating (they gave us a crisp white tablecloth although the table where we sat normally didn’t require one), reasonably efficient, and dessert was nicely packaged for takeaway. Water Street Cafe also has a nicely sized Canadian wine list. All in all, a very good restaurant that gets our recommendation.
