Royal Chinese Restaurant is a hidden little neighborhood gem and the cat got our of the bag! Arrive early (5:30 PM) and you're almost guaranteed a table, otherwise, you will have take a number and wait. Food is always fresh and hot. Flavours are excellent...and spot on. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the portions reflect the prices. The wait staff are great at their jobs. They may not make eye contact all the time, however they are attentive and are courteous. Seafood dishes are tasty, especially, the Vancouver crab HK style, the shrimp with rice in bamboo leaves (steamed), and their fresh steamed shrimp with chili soya sauce. Other dishes we like include: honey pepper steak, salt & pepper squid, tung choi with Chinese cheese & peppers. We also like their house made chili oil. It is flavourful and goes on everything. Things I like about this restaurant is that the servers have been at the restaurant for years, the food is consistently good, they provide complimentary house made soup and sliced oranges at the end of the meal, replace your dirty plates with new ones, extra napkins and good service. When we are in the hood, we like to eat here for good Chinese food. :)More
