I happen to live nearby this place and I didn't give it a try in month. From the outside it looks like a rather ordinary place. Basically a chinese. There's vegetarian in the name but if you look at the posted menu too absent-mindedly, words...like "pork", "chicken", "shark fin" will confuse you as to what is vegetarian about this place. The place is also often empty, another reason to just walk by. But. Reality is this is actually a VEGAN place, and one that deserves no less hype than the supertrendy vegan places in town such as MeeT, Chickpea, Acorn, and so on. All the "meaty words" in the menu, if you look closely, refer to meat alternatives, like soy chicken. And yes, there is dairy and no eggs in the menu. It's fully vegan. Why aren't they publicizing this? I don't know. Their food is not only vegan, by the way, it's awesome and unique. I had the drumsticks (fake chicken thighs in BBQ sauce) and the crispy taro rolls. Both were incredible experiences. The drumsticks are as close as chicken as it will ever get; crunchy skin on the outside, soft and filamentous pulp in the inside, with a superb taste. The taro rolls are a completely different experience as it's not fake meat. Taro seems to resemble yam or platan. I never had it before, and now I know I will look for this new vegetable whenever I come across it. Vegans in Vancouver, seriously, do yourself a favour and come try this place. And bring your omnivorous friends; this place is not about compromise taste and ethics. You got both. Prices: lunch is more convenient, and prices are just a tad higher than the other restaurants in the same area, but worth every penny. You can fill your tummy with little less than 20$ plus drinks.
