While staying at the Best Western Sands, I visited this place also known as the Park Pub 3 times. It is actually attached to the hotel. If I could, I would have given it 4.5 stars. The pub had a modern sports bar/pub vibe, but...there was definitely a local feel. One day it was cool and rainy so I decided to stay close to the hotel. There was one server/bartender; he was very outgoing and service was excellent. I ordered the ultimate cool, rainy day meal, the Grilled Cheese Fingers. It came out hot and fresh. The mixed cheeses came out ooey, gooey good. The bacon marmalade was a really nice touch, and the sourdough was toasted just right. What really made the meal was the tomato bisque that came with the sandwich. It was outstanding, thick and rich tomato flavours with a hint of onion, way better than soup. 5 stars. My next meal was breakfast. I had the Real Breakfast, 2 eggs (sunny side up), roasted baby potatoes, bacon and white toast. The eggs were cooked properly, the bacon was nice a crispy, but the potatoes were a bit under seasoned. 4.5 stars. My last visit was for supper. I ordered the Mini Braised Beef Yorkshire Pudding. I found the dish a bit hit and miss. The beef itself was okay. The accompanying crisp jalapeno and horseradish mayo was intriguing. The jalapeno had texture but no taste and the horseradish was a bit lacking. The puddings themselves were crisp but not soggy. The killer was the gravy, it was salt and tasted liked it came from a package. 4 stars. Overall a very nice place to visit, especially if you are staying at the Sand. An added bonus. When it is nice and sunny out the windows that overlook the sidewalk patio can be opened to let you soak in the sun and people watch.
