This busy diner is not an elegant place to eat, but it’s great for families, young and older people. I would say it is popular for two reasons: the food isn’t too salty (e.g. Samgyetang ginseng chicken soup); also, the servers who speak English (for...a change) are prompt in bringing portions that are generous for sharing, including complimentary side dishes. Chicken bones are ready to be deposited in a personal size bucket! The diverse array of Korean menu items (starting about $13) are listed in English with photos displayed on the walls above picnic-style tables. You can order add-on rice or noodles for cheap. The samgyetang is not spicy at all; only the condiments are. This is not as pork-heavy as other Asian restaurants. I heard Filipino, Chinese, and English accents. Those seniors love the bowls of chicken soup, containing a whole rice-stuffed Cornish hen, because it’s self-season only (no salt except the kosher shaker on the side). Of course, Koryo also serves the usual bibimbap in sizzling stone bowls. The bad thing is their line-ups at lunchtime; so park (for free) in front of the bank ahead of time. You might even want to pull out cash and then walk later toward Pickle Barrel in the plaza; you can order ice cream for dessert at the bustling Baskin Robbins beside there. It’s not a bad way to end a low-key dinner date, without really breaking the bank!More
