I find that even thought there seem to be so many restaurants in the Cook Street Village, there aren't many where you can get a reasonably priced and tasty bowl of soup.
I find that even thought there seem to be so many restaurants in the Cook Street Village, there aren't many where you can get a reasonably priced and tasty bowl of soup. But the Hot and Cold Cafe seems to be THE place. Every soup...I've ever had there is wonderful, and their speciality is a vegetarian (probably vegan) Coconut Curry. While a cup does cost about $7, and it's not big......you get lots of foccacia bread with it and it's lovelly bread. And the soup is gentle and beautifully spiced, with lots of root vegetables. And you can sit either in the table outside the restaurant, or, if there's not space, there is a very large outdoor food court right next to it.
