We picked up 4 dishes from the Sesame Asian location at UBC. It’s parts of the bus area so parking is limited and a bit of a hassle if you need to loop around traffic lights to find a spot. The food was ready to...go and the service was good. We ordered the Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodle, Rendang Beef, Sesame Chicken, and Chicken Wings (large order). I was excited about the variety of food that Sesame offered and at such a great price. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t very good. Bland, too much sauce, very little protein. The most flavourful dish was the spiciness of the Lamb Noodle but there isn’t much lamb. The Rendang had too much sauce and very little beef. The Sesame Chicken was pretty good – nicely battered but again, a scarce amount. I’m guessing but it seemed as though the noodle/rice to protein ratio was 70% to 30% so the carbs fill you up but it was not what we were looking for. It makes sense that the dishes are $10 and at the UBC location, probably meant for students but everyone could benefit from more flavour. The chicken wings were a great value and no issues with the amount of protein : ) Sadly, they had no flavour and might have been the worst wings we’ve had in a long time. Overall, good value for a quick bite and if you’re trying to load up on carbohydrates but we likely won’t be back.
