We were four adults that had lunch at this restaurant on January 30, 2020. We had eaten here once before perhaps 15-20 years ago. From the outside the restaurant does not look very inviting but once you enter it is very attractive and reminded us...of many restaurants that we ate in during our visit to Portugal. This is a big restaurant. It seats 170 people. We were brought to the main (and formal) dining room on the second floor. There is a smaller dining room just off the main dining room. Plus there is another dining room on the first floor. All nicely decorated. Once we were seated our waiter brought fresh bread and a plate of olives. There was a luncheon special (table d'hôte du jour menu). Soup of the day or salad with a main course plus dessert and tea or café for a fixed price. All four of us had the soup of the day. According to our waiter, it is a traditional Portuguese soup. It was chicken, carrots and bits of pasta. We all agreed that it was excellent. In terms of the main course, one person chose the cod, myself and another individual selected the shrimp paella. The fourth person ordered grilled sardines from the à la carte menu. All the main courses arrived the same time and what fantastic presentations. Very, very pretty. A feast for the eyes!! The grilled sardine plate was truly spectacular looking. Everyone loved their meal. The cod was fresh, the grilled sardines, apparently, were out of this world. You could not get them any better even in Portugal. A few words on the shrimp paella. It was a very generous portion served on a platter. So much food that I was not sure if I could eat it all! In terms of wine, the waiter suggested a Portuguese wine called Chaminé. It was perfect! We took a photo of the wine so we can look for it the next time we buy wine. Our waiter was superb, helpful and so professional. Water glasses were filled on a regular basis. There was no rushing in this restaurant. There were short breaks between the courses. Timed perfectly. For dessert one person was too full. One person ordered the flan. Myself & another guest ordered a small round piece of pie. It was filled with lemon. The desserts all got a thumbs up. This restaurant provides parking. Also, from time to time on a weekend there is live entertainment. However, it is not every weekend. Overall, a most pleasant way to pass two hours together. After we exited the restaurant, my partner turned to me and said that we have to return here again!! That is the ultimate compliment!!More
