We dropped in here for lunch before going to the nearby HotDocs theatre for a movie. All the servers were friendly and professional. The menu has an interesting variety of breakfast dishes and other breakfast and lunch entrees. We ordered an omelette and the sausage...and sauerkraut plate with a choice of two sides from a list of 5 or so choices. The omelette was deemed good and full of mushrooms and cheese. The fries looked like pieces of cardboard but were well-seasoned and better than they looked. My sausages were OK but the sauerkraut had been over-seasoned with something that made it red. The side salad was ordinary and came with a non-descript balsamic dressing. The vegetables (cauliflower and broccoli) were virtually raw and so hard they were difficult to cut and chew. I left half of everything on the plate to save room for dessert which takes up half a wall of display cabinets. Everything looks delicious but I’m not sure the taste meets the appearance. We opted for a delicious spiced cider and two squares which we divided into smaller pieces and shared. The lemon square didn’t have much of a lemon flavour and the coffee toffee brownie didn’t live up to its display shelf appeal. The decor is quite grubby and the patrons were a motley crew. The quality of the food does not match the decor which needs a good cleaning and updating.
