Au Comptoir is a great place to tuck into on a rainy Sunday, of which there are many in Vancouver’s fall and winter months, and one may do so for brunch through dinner. This Sunday a chocolate chaud a l’anchienne seemed just the thing to...gird one’s loins before the challenge of the postal outlet a few doors away. A delicious fortifier. It is yummy, costs 6$ and can be well-paired with pain chocolat at 5$, if one wants a full-on chocolate jolt, for such occasions as lining up for postal services, such as sending parcels, often with line ups, less than friendly service, unless one gets the very helpful Luigi, or his colleague, Queenie. Au Comptoir is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 8 am for breakfast through to dinner during the week, with brunch on Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 10 am through to the dinner menu. Au Comptoir has charming street seating, especially nice on sunny days. Au Comptoir serves the French favourites, and all menus offer many choices and service is very French. Definitely worth a visit, rain or shine. Posted by S Fuller.
