My first time and my husband's second time at Cesar's. It's my husband's birthday and we decided to dine here tonight. The service we received as lukewarm, server didn't introduce their name and no rapport. I thought it was the server's bad night or something but then I observe the interactions of the other tables under the same server and it was a complete 180 change--jokes being cracked, warm and friendly disposition. The only difference between our table and the others was that we were the only Asian table. I wish I was overthinking it but it was strikingly obvious. Especially when it came to the end of the meal and our finished dishes were sitting there for 10 minutes and the manager had to come take it away. It was not a busy night so there's no excuse for the poor service. Considering this is one of the top steakhouses in Calgary, I expected more from the overall experience. The French onion soup was incredibly salty and the mixed house salad was sad--iceberg lettuce thrown together with a cream dressing. When it came to the filet mignon itself from the chateaubriand set, I ordered medium rare and my husband wanted his portion to be medium. The server sliced the steak first and separated my medium rare portion. Then it goes downhill, the server then fried my husband's sliced steak portion to well-done, he still ate it because he didn't want to cause trouble on his birthday. I only gave this review three stars because my portion turned out right. If I was going to pay premium price for steak then the restaurant should have a better handle on their chateaubriand set when two customers have different preferences of steak.
