This is one of the two major shopping streets in Haute-Ville (Upper Town), along with the Rue Saint-Louis. You’ll find lots of good restaurants and stores here, and although I’ve never been to Quebec City in the summertime, I hear that they turn this street...into a pedestrian zone during the summer months. If you’re exploring Old Quebec, I don’t see how you’d manage to not come across the Rue Saint-Jean. My advice to travelers is to be brave and follow the Rue Saint-Jean outside the confines of the old city. Check out the Place d’Youville and the Faubourg St-Jean neighborhood — there’s lots of other cool stores and cafes to find along those sections of the street.
