Just had the worst experience at the Keg on Quadra Street tonight. Went there with my husband for our anniversary dinner. We were in a very small table for two at the corner upstairs. I ordered the whole lobster and obviously, it takes longer to...consume. I also had the vegetables with it. I still had half of my meal when the server oddly offered me a box for the rest of my veggies. I, of course, told her I won’t need the box coz I am eating all my veggies. Didn’t think much of it until the manager asked us if we mind being moved to another table, coz someone is having a surprise birthday party and our presence there “would ruin the surprise”. He said he doesn’t mind moving us. I said I don’t want to be moved to another table. I would like to finish my meal in our table. I said I will be done soon. Reluctantly, he left. After a few minutes, he came back and I told him that I don’t like the way we are being treated. He was apologetic, but damage is done. I told him that I feel less important than the other customers that they are trying to accommodate at our expense. I am a paying customer and thus should be treated the same as the others. I even asked him who is coming who is more important than I am, that I have to vacate my seat for them. He said it’s not like that, but I said it felt like that. Anyway, the owner came by after a few minutes and offered a very insincere apology, trying to justify the incident. The manager apologized again on our way out, but it already ruined the evening. I enjoy eating out, but there are far better restaurants in Victoria that I would rather go to than there. Needless to say, I am definitely not keen on visiting that place in the near future.
