We visited Wu Jian Dao because we heard this was a new Shanghainese eatery specialized in Pan Fried Dumplings 生煎包. Many dumpling restaurants pride themselves in the consistency of how their dumplings were presented, nicely wrapped, very consistent in size and shape. Not here, 4...dumplings came out on a plate, they looked like they were sqeezed together without any intended appearance, and one of them was lying on its side. The browning at the bottom of the dumplings were not consistent. They all had tasty broth inside, with large portions of ground pork. Overall, good tasting dumplings. We ordered Eight Treasure Rice Cake 八宝年糕. It was actually a typical Shanghainese Eight Treasure Paste with meat and veggie ingredients that tasted good but slightly salty. I was disappointed that it only had very little rice cake cut in small size cubes, because this was supposed to be a rice cake dish. The Shredded Chicken meat was quite good. We ordered a plain soup noodle, and it was fine. This was a small restaurant with about 12 tables. The menu was very limited with only about 15 items. It is more a diner/cafe than a restaurant. As such, the prices were a little expensive. Service was good. Its okay for a quick and simple meal.
