Seeking late-night sushi, our options were certainly limited. Thus: we endured the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I know this all sounds complainy, but I assure you: I don't like to have to be a Karen, but this time I must warn others. The...menu was limited to a few options as we arrived after 10pm and they close at 12am. We ordered a selection of maki rolls and miso soup. One roll came out so long after we had forgotten about it and had already finished the others. A perk of coming to a port city like Vancouver is the fresh fish options (I'm from a landlocked province) but this was NOT the case. The meagre thin slices of salmon were tasteless, the yam and tempura was soggy, they filled the roll with way too much avocado to put less fish in, and even the rice even was bad. The rolls were sliced poorly, some huge slices I couldn't even fit in my mouth, some super thin. No attempt at plating or presenting, they were just thrown on to the white dinner plate. After waiting at the counter to pay inside, we *almost* opted to dine&dash it took so long for someone to come and help us, but I figured the bad karma wasn't worth it - plus I wanted to share my experience with the staff to which they DID NOT CARE. Usually, when a customer complains or has a bad experience, the meal will be discounted - they had no interest in making amends with us, in fact she gave me the silent treatment, completely unprofessional. Don't waste your time here at Maro, there's so much good food in Vancouver. Go next door to MEAT if nothing else or just go hungry.
