I had lunch today at Courtyard Cafe with a friend that lost her husband. Around the middle of lunch, the waitress started hovering over us. She suggested that she would give us the bill before offering dessert. My friend ordered a latte. We got the...bill before the latte. Before my friend could finish her latte the manager came to our table to tell us our time was up and we needed to leave. I got up and said that I needed to talk to her. As she did not follow me, I motioned to her to come to see me. She walked over to me shaking her finger at me like one does a difficult child: « How dare I order her around. » I explained that this was the first time I saw my friend since she lost her husband. Nothing would sway her. This was the rule and I should have known about it and furthermore someone was waiting for OUR table. We left. I was mortified for my friend. I always have been treated with high regard in restaurants. This shabby treatment is one I do not need. I will not return.
