Ok, so for me, this place was a little bit of a curve ball since I wasn't looking for it. I was doing the fancy bar thing in Gastown, which was fun, but most places closed early. I was looking for a 'last' drink for...the night and was referred to this place from another bar. Considering it was late there weren't many people inside but the ambiance was very relax, which is exactly what I needed, that and a drink. The place was rustic, low light, the music wasn't too loud nor too annoying, which worked. The bartender was very hospitable and friendly when receiving me, considering the hour I was pleasantly surprised, I know usually people want to leave at that time. They didn't have a great liquor selection but it wasn't the 'mixology' type of place and I was already cocktailed out so i figured a beer would be perfect. Nate and Alan pointed me in the direction of a couple of nice local beers and we ended up talking bar (I bartend as well). There's something about the unspoken creed of bartending, whenever we meet our own its like finding lost family. From the customers point of view its like saying 'dude, i know all the crap you go through and you still do it well, respect.' This is not normally the type of place I'd go to, considering in the weekends it gets incredibly busy (with a younger crowd), but the service alone was completely worth it. The guys welcomed me as one of their own and honestly, it made me come back! Thanks again Nate and Alan, you guys made it worth it. I'll definitely see you again on my next trip. -OmarMore
