Darna excels in many areas - a great menu, very good cocktails (watch out, they are potent!), decent service and a comfortable dining room - but it just falls short of being a five star spot. We did enjoy the food but found it to...be just a little inconsistent. The mutabal (charred eggplant mezze) lacked a real smoky flavour that is the trademark of this dish but the shish barak (beef dumplings) was excellent - firm dumplings with savoury beef inside and a tasty roasted garlic and mint yoghurt sauce. Our favourite entrees were the kufta warak enab (minced lamb and beef wrapped in vine leaves and served in a tasty sauce) and the grilled lamb chops. The beef tenderloin stew was much less flavourful. The pace in which courses were delivered could have been a little better. The prices are very fair including the cocktails and wine (a decent selection by the glass). The restaurant is very busy on weekends so be sure to make a reservation.
