Our friends invited us to join them after winning the bidding at a silent auction fundraiser for a set menu meal for four. The menu consisted of : DimSum Wonton soup Pork neck Fried rice with prawns Scallops and A “special” dessert First the wonton...“soup” arrived. There was absolutely zero flavour in the broth, no green onions, nada. Next came Dim Sum. Two pieces per person - reasonable. The prawn and pork wrapped in rice paper were gelatinous and very bland. The stuffed bun was dry and unappetizing. Things seemed to improve with the pork neck in a sauce of some kind surrounded by broccoli, followed by fried rice with prawns and scallops in a sauce. The pork neck was ok but the fried rice was clumpy and very bland. The scallops had been sliced in half horizontally, so tiny medallions of scallops. The sauce and vegetables accompanying this were similarly bland. We had to remind the server that special dessert was included. A few minutes later a firm tasteless gelatin pie shape was placed before us. There was no decoration - just the firm gelatine on the plate. The fact that it was called “special” dessert on the menu only exacerbated the irony. I had great food here a few years ago and this dinner was mediocre. We will not be returning.
