My husband and I have wanted to visit this restaurant for some time. However, we never seemed to make the decision to go early enough to get a reservation. This time we booked a couple of weeks in advance for a Saturday night. What a...treat!! This small intimate restaurant is in a restored heritage home in an industrial area just south of Olympic Village. Although the surrounding area was not very atmospheric ( which, on the plus side, allowed for easily available free street parking), the restaurant itself was very cosy and inviting. The menu is limited but well chosen. In addition to the pizza selections there were a number of other very authentic Italian dishes (with a Sicilian bent in keeping with the chef/owner's heritage). To start, my husband and I shared the Carpaccio di Polpo and the Pere & Gorgonzola salad. We then sampled the Ravioli All'Aragosta ( lobster ravioli ) and the Frutti di Mare risotto ( seafood risotto). Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. Having been to Italy on many occasions we thought that the food was very authentic. We finished with a Tortino al Cioccolato which was the only slightly disappointing item on the menu that we tried. That may be because neither my husband or I are really dessert people or because their desserts are not made in house and thus not quite up to the high standards of the rest of the menu. In any event, we really enjoyed the food and experience that we had at Mangia Cuchina & Bar and will definitely return in the future ( notwithstanding that we live no where near the neighbourhood). Highly recommended.
