We have had fantastic sushi in many Winnipeg restaurants including Edo Hei before it closed, Yujiro, Izakaya Eddokko. I've been to Japan twice and tasted the finest sushi. Decided to try this neighborhood sushi restaurant because it is close to home.First red flag was the...flabby surf clam served in my Sunomono Salad. The major disaster was the Chirashi Bowl which is a favourite of mine and a benchmark for trying new restaurants. The portion was fine but the taste and textures were horrible. Soggy, flabby surf clam, tuna and salmon. The cooked shrimp tasted like an old sock. The octopus was cut too thick so one couldn't get one's teeth through it. The Bakudan roll was mostly rice and the nigiri sushi had tiny, thin pieces of fish. The service was excellent, prompt and friendly but we will never be back!More
