My family of 5 went to the crayfish Betty's boil last year and really enjoyed it. So, when the lobster, mussel, shrimp and clam boil was advertised for tonight, my family jumped at the event. Unfortunately, after tonight , we may never go again. When...we first sat down, we were seated at a table beside another couple. We can see that the table can seat more than the 5 of us,so we sat one space over from the couple. A waitress (not the one that seated us) then tells us to sit right next to the couple because since there was 5 or us 4 people will be sharing a platter and the fifth person has to share a platter with the couple. I was flabbergasted. Can you imagine that couple out to have a nice dinner and having a good time then having a stranger reach over to grab food from their platter and stick their dirty fork into their coleslaw? When I told the waitress the last time we came as a party of 5 we didn't have to share with strangers. She looked unimpressed and said that she always works here and they do this all the time. She also said that this is how it is done in the south. Excuse me, but in the south they have boils and invite all their family and friends for dinner. It is ok if Uncle George sticks his dirty fork into the coleslaw or touches the lobster after he licks his fingers, but this is not ok with strangers. I had to explain several times that this is not hygienic before the waitress finally asked the manager if they can separate our food from that of the couples. Besides, if not for hygiene reasons, should I count how many clams mussels shrimps, etc is on the plate before eating to make sure I don't eat more than (or less than) my share? Finally, don't go if you are not a party of 2 (though you are not safe of stranger's germs), 3 or 4. I must give credit to the manager who ok'd the separation of our food from the couples's platter, however, we did not get 5 people's portion of food . Example, the couple got 6 slices of bread. We (5 people) got 6 slices of bread also. 5 of us got 5 half lobsters, but only 4 people got a claw. I noticed that as a group of 5, we did not even get double what a couple got. Considering we paid the same price, this is disappointing. I am most annoyed because I shouldn't have to argue my case to have my food separated from a stranger's food. Isn't this common sense?More
