Our family was on a trip to Vancouver and I was excited to bring my husband, mom and two kids there for the first time. We rented a condo in Yaletown and walked around to decide where to eat and grateful there are a million...choices around this area. My kids love Mexican food so I felt alleviated to find this great looking restaurant called Fayuca. I went in and my family stayed just outside of the door and asked the hostess "Alesa/Alisa" if she could put us down for 5 people. It was Friday night and we just got in from the airport so I understand that it is busy especially since I was a server myself for 15 years. We were totally willing to wait for an hour because the entire street was packed. She gave me a fake smile and looked around the restaurant once and said they didn't have room for us but if I wanted we could sit at the bar. I told her with my kids I felt that it wasn't an option and she replied "yes, I can see your kids and why that wouldn't work". She then continued to tell me that the empty tables were already reserved but the people hadn't arrived yet. I would like to tell the owner of Fayuca, that we spent $240 dollars at Anatoli, a Greek restaurant down the street. If Alesa was right to deny customers then she did her job, but if you expect your hostess to fill your restaurant especially when they are willing to wait for an hour then clearly she needs to be trained on how you want and need to run your business. Thanks for hearing me because I felt this was too important not to be shared.
