We were here for a reunion dinner and we had 2 tables reserved. The restaurant on this Saturday evening around 5:30 was busy but not crowded. Each table ordered their own fixed priced combo menu. We ordered the 8 dish combo for $155.95 before taxes....For the price, this menu included a whole soya sauce chicken, house soup, rice and dessert at “no extra cost”. The dessert was either a sweet soup or mango pudding. There are 67 menu options to choose from. There are also 2, 3, 4 and 6 dish combo dishes for $43,95, $58.95, $78.95 and $127.95 respectively that also included the above mentioned complimentary items. However, the soya sauce chicken dish would be smaller with the smaller combo orders. Our table of 10 ordered the following: 1. #44 - beef brisket hotpot – above average 2. #4 - deep fried squid - chewy 3. #32 - steamed pork patty with preserved vegetables – average tasting 4. #36 - black bean sauce beef and green beans – good. Prefer my beans a little more “al dente” but still good 5. #1 - sauteed ling cod filet and vegetables – moist and tender 6. #19 - sauteed chicken hotpot – bony chicken. Taste-wise okay. 7. #56 - gai lan and Chinese sausage - okay 8. #45 - seafood tofu hotpot – just average. Didn’t care for the clear sauce in the hot pot. Maybe should have ordered the assorted meat tofu hotpot? The house soup – a clear broth soup, in my opinion, was just okay and could have used some seasoning but others in our table thought it was good. The soya sauce chicken was moist, tender and tasty. The mango pudding shaped like a goldfish was also tasty. Breakdown of rating: • Food quality and taste – overall average tasting; some good and others were barely average. Examples: Chewy deep fried squid and at the other end of the range moist and tender sauteed fish. 3 out of 5 rating. • Price vis-à-vis value / portion size – above average; there was enough food for us. 3.25 out of 5 rating • Service – order arrived in a timely manner; above average 3.25 out of 5 rating In my opinion, just average food with really nothing to rave about – 3 out of 5 rating.
