East Side Mario’s (ESM) has gone way too far SOUTH!! Send them to Antarctica!!! Late afternoon on Thursday 18 November, after a two-hour+ drive into our Ottawa hotel with young kids prior to an early Friday morning flight to Van... we decided to order take-out...from ESM around 1630 – using their online order app. BIG MISTEAK!!! (pun intended) We Ordered a $50 meal to be delivered at 1730h – BUT!! it came almost instantly to our airport hotel around 1645. The Uber driver phoned back to the resto for us to ask why it was sent so early – where he was ‘abused’ by the man on the ESM phone – who then told our daughter-in-law that ‘they prepare their meals as soon the online order comes in’... (even when the app specifically asks customers to choose your preferred delivery time???) DUH??? He then gave her two choices: ‘Eat it now’ (even though the adults & kids were in the hotel pool when the order arrived 3/4hours early ...and they wouldn’t be back at the room until at least 1/2hour later) ... OR ‘Throw it in the landfill garbage’ (ESM is not very environmentally conscious!!!) Despite resisting, he eventually conceded that there should be no charge for this too-early meal delivery... (but we’ll wait to see what shows up on the credit card!!!) He was such a JERK!!! He ALSO told the driver he would not be paid for his delivery... WHAAAT??? (Even though it was ESM’s screw-up!!!) So we gave the driver $10 for his grief and the hassle from ESM. (And we hope that the ESM Jerk doesn’t give him any more grief or abuse!!) I’m loathe to condemn the whole East Side Mario’s Chain... or even its Ottawa franchisee ... but ESM management should be made aware of this dunderhead they’ve hired trained?) and paid to serve their customers/drivers/public in this horrible fashion!! And this is a management issue that needs to be FIXED ASAP!!! ON PRINCIPLE, We won’t throw food into the landfill – so we ate the Chicken Parm and Shrimp Linguine after we got back to the hotel room—SERIOUSLY, IT WAS THE WORST ITALIAN FOOD WE’VE EVER TASTED – not even a good deal even if it were “free”!!!! BOYCOTT EAST SIDE MARIOS!!!! (or at least their online delivery app)More
