I am sure a majority of the time it’s a blessing and much needed capital, but there are times it can be unfortunate what new ownership will do to an institution. We’ve been vacationing in Whistler almost yearly to ski since 1982 and every time we come up a dinner at Il Caminetto di Umbertos was on the short list. After tonight not so sure. The new ownership has done a nice job with the decor and the bar is a much needed improvement. The menu however has lost its charm. It’s no longer Italian really, save a couple must haves such as lasagne and ‘something’ bolognese. Understand you look to freshen things up, add new, etc, but the Umberto’s we knew has been thoroughly rinsed out of the establishment.
