We decided to try takeout first and this proved to be a wise decision. All the seafood and chosen sides come in a plastic bag. Everything was thoroughly soaked in the chosen sauce. There was far too much and it was messy beyond belief. It...made breaking open the shell impossible without spreading the sauce everywhere. I would recommend dining in only for the most courageous diners who are willing to spread their meal all over themselves and everything else. Being at home, we dumped our meals onto a large plate, made liberal use of a sharp knife and shellfish crackers and kept a full roll of paper towels handy. I don't know how anyone can do the meal justice without utensils! We each had the Alaska King Crab which was very good. The presentation was what I would describe as Newfoundland dockside. The price was in the upper middle range, not far from what a fine dining restaurant might charge for a similar meal. The single leg was large and loaded with lots of meat. I split the shell with knife and removed all the meat onto the plate before eating it. I chose mild Captain's Boil Sauce, and my wife the mild garlic sauce. Both were plenty spicy enough for our palates. I liked my sauce but my wife's sauce had way to much garlic for our tastes. It would have given me severe GI pains for days if I had chosen it! The sauce was poured into the bags and coated everything. Thank goodness we asked for the butter on the side or it would have been in there too. In future, we will also ask for the sauce on the side as well so we can control how much we use. With these caveats: sauce on the side; take out; and the use utensils at home; we would recommend The Captains Boil only for dyed-in-the-wool seafood lovers.
