First time trying out this place - I did come in with expectations that it served Greek food, which colored my experience. First of all, when we entered the restaurant, we stood at the door for about 5 minutes, unseen and unnoticed by the staff....When I say 5 minutes, I mean 'too long in my personal opinion.' This place is tiny, and there were several older couples eating, so we assumed the staff were just busy, talking to each other, and therefore slow. We were finally noticed and seated, and the server said she would bring menus over. She brought water first, and we waited for menus for at least another 5 minutes afterwards. I'm not super impatient, but I'm saying it felt like we were waiting a while. She told us about that day's special, which was a 'lamb kebab' for about $16, which she said came with salad, and choice of potatoes, rice, or spaghetti. When we finally ordered, the two of us both chose the 'lamb kebab' because it sounded like a good deal. Big mistake. When we ordered she did not ask us what kind of salad or side we wanted, so we waited to be surprised. Google 'lamb kebab' and you will get endless photos of lamb on a stick or skewer. When the server told me the special was lamb kebab, that's what I imagined it would be - it made sense to me because this place serves 'Greek food' so I assumed it would turn out to be lamb souvlaki - Google that and you also get endless photos of meat on sticks. It didn't turn out to be what I was expecting at all. I should have been smart, and ordered pizza since the place is called George's Pizza - and it's hard to mess up pizza. We got our Greek salad which was fine - nothing wrong with it and nothing amazing either. Then we got the 'lamb kebab.' It was the worst mound of tasteless bland lamb ever imaginable with plain white rice (not the flavored rice you usually get at Greek restaurants). It came with pita bread, which was fine. Tsatiziki was also fine. The roasted potatoes were okay. There were also cooked veggies like broccoli, carrots, mushrooms - all very odd and unexpected and not 'Greek'. The lamb was Tough, and yet overly Fatty. It was next to impossible for me to cut. If you threw it at someone’s head they would say ow. Even my friend who says all food tastes the same to him says he could tell how bad the lamb was. He said it was as if they had taken the cheapest cut of discount meat they could find, boiled it for too long in salt water and then sprinkled it with some rosemary to make it look better. When I asked the server if this was the kebab, she said 'that's the special,' so maybe it was the 'kebab' part that she now realized was misleading and totally inaccurate. I didn't eat any of the food, except for the Greek salad and pita bread. I literally couldn't make myself eat it, it was totally inedible. The lamb was so bad, and it didn't help that I had been misled into thinking I was getting a kebab instead.
