So, Princess Auto, the most random hardware store in the civilized world, decides that they're going to open up a restaurant…I guess if random is already kind of your thing, you should go with your strengths. And they’re going to name it after an old...truck that the original owner used to own? Why not? Nothing stirs up an appetite quite like the thought of used vehicles. I think it’s safe to say that I walked into Blue Truck Barbeque with uncertain expectations. However, Blue Truck exceeded those expectations in every way. The restaurant was very modern and stylish. I would describe it as kind of an industrial minimalist esthetic. Quite trendy. Our server was very friendly and definitely knew her stuff when it came to southern barbeque. My smoked brisket sandwich was tender, moist, and full of flavour. An extra special surprise was their blueberry barbecue sauce that it came with. It had a unique sweet and tart zing that I loved. In fact, if that sold that sauce by the bottle, I would have bought some right then and there. My sweet potato fries were also well done – though I’ve rarely seen anyone screwup sweet potato fries before. Would I go back? Definitely. Not many places do southern barbeque right, but Blue Truck sure does.
