If you are looking for authentic Singapore cuisine, look no further. THIS IS THE PLACE! It is called Shiok! The word “Shiok” is a slang for Singaporeans who used the term for good & very delicious food. Parking - Street parking in a residential area…...be patient, it will pay off. Covid check - Good, you come into the front door, sanitize your hands, get your Covid passport & ID ready. Then you order the food that you want, menu will be attached. Pay up front & they will bring the food to you Interior of the restaurant is bright & clean, they have 5 tables for seating of 4 people & 3 tables for seating of 2. Let’s talk about the food, we ordered Laksa, Nasi Lemak, satay, Nyona Chicken Curry & fried Chicken wings. The Nasi Lemak was a generous portion, the coconut rice is fragrant, the sambal that comes with it is perfect pairing for the rice. They even sells the homemade sambal. It comes with a big piece of fried chicken, otak otak, boiled egg ( great with the sambal), of course fried peanuts & anchovies- the quintessential of a Nasi Lemak! My favourite is the Laksa, I ordered it with mixed noodles- the broth is rich in coconut milk, the spices has a kick to it ( that’s how the broth of Laksa should taste) The Nyona chicken curry was on point! 3 pieces of drumsticks- the curry taste was superb The fried chicken was one of our favourite- crispy & piping hot! Satay was nicely done & the satay sauce was oh so yummy! We paired the meal with calamansi drink.. YUM! The place is run by PJ & his wife, both of them are so friendly… service is great, your cup of ice water is never empty! As the place is named Shiok… a very apt name for the SHIOK food that they served.
