My family was staying in the hotel for a staycation, so I had the chance to have two breakfasts and one dinner at Cafe One. As for food, they provide the standard hotel fare - something familiar for everyone, and nothing too adventurous. I tried...the following: - Breakfast Smoothie - Very good. Actually, as far as restaurant smoothies go, it's actually one of the best ones I've had. So good, I ordered one for each breakfast. - Toast with Cheese and Fruit - OK. Tastes exactly what it sounds like. Very simple. - Canadian Breakfast - OK. Between average to sub-average sausage, bacon, potatoes, eggs and toast. Very large plate, so I easily shared with with my kids. - Breakfast Sandwich - Good. Again, nothing special, but it filled me up, and I could easily share some of it with my kids. - Pancakes - OK. Again large portion size, but average quality. - Chicken Strips - Typical frozen variety chicken strips, but my kids were happy. They liked the yam fries - Pork Rillette - OK. Low quality bread, but decent rillette. - Coq au Vin - OK. It looked pretty good, but the chicken was a bit dried out, and the whole dish didn't seem to mesh they way it should. Possibly because the sauce was a bit watery. - Cheesecake - OK. Tasted store-bought, with thawed frozen cherries. - Chocolate Terrine - OK. The torched meringue was nice, terrine was OK as was the raspberry sorbet. Again, just didn't meld together for some reason. It was the service that was very memorable. Although the 1st breakfast started very slow (they looked understaff for about 15 minutes), but once additional staff came on shift I found all of them were very friendly and seemed to really want to make our meal a nice experience. I had breakfast vouchers because the club lounge was closed, so they were only obligated to provide complimentary breakfast for my wife and I, but even though I added a few small items to share with my kids, they never charged me for them. This happened both times for breakfast. Small things like this make a difference, and I really appreciated. It make me feel like a valued customer. So overall, the food was OK and nothing special, but found that the extra effort from the staff made our staycation a little more memorable, and made me feel more special as a customer.
