We arrived in Vieux Quebec around 5:30pm on a Thursday during Carnival, and we had no idea if/when we’d find a restaurant open for walk-ins. Before we left the USA, I had attempted to make an online reservation at Bistro St. Malo based on the...positive reviews, but every seating, every day of our visit was full. So when we stumbled upon the restaurant during an exploratory walk and they made room for us on the fly—I WAS THRILLED. I had high expectations (again, based on reviews), and everything lived up to the hype. Onion soup? Outstanding! Cassoulet? The sausage melted in your mouth and the meat fell off the bone into delicious, savory beans. The scallop and mushroom ravioli was delicious and garnished with micro greens and pickled radish! And dessert (a three-layered chocolate mousse) was edible art. Really, Bistro St. Malo was simply delicious and we are grateful to the staff for welcoming us!More
