The college location of La Carnita is a mixed bag - the tacos are delicious, truly amongst the best in the city. However, almost every other aspect of the place fails to live up to the standard of its tacos. (Including the other food items,...which are generally “okay” at best.) The prices are very high for what is otherwise a very unfancy/fairly rundown location. It’s by no means a bad looking place - think: hip dive bar...with lounge prices. It gets very loud most nights I’ve been...like, REALLY VERY WE’RE SHOUTING A BIT-loud. Weekends after 8pm...well, I hope you have a loud voice. Service is generally friendly, but usually inattentive. If you need something and don’t want to wait for 30-40 minutes, you’ll likely have to go find your server (or flag down any passing server, and ask them to find your server). On our most recent visit, they didn’t bring out all of our food items. And only noticed when we pointed out that we received a bill with items we never received. (Our server did genuinely apologise, and remove the items from the bill.) They were also out of mushrooms, margaritas, and some desserts by 7pm, which was a shame on a Saturday night. All in all.
