In the mid 60's there was a good representation of Italian Canadian residents nearby including this proprietor hidden on the side street providing a Mama's Pizza franchise and when the name changed to Napoli VInce's there still was the same owner and recipe. So if...your wondering why its so good it's because this is the original Mama's Pizza recipe ( ! ) perhaps back to the 50's (does anyone remember lining up for oven fresh one size fits all Mama's at Yorkdale mall, or screaming kids at Smitty's and Obie's). Mama's changed the crust about 10 years ago, tragedy, and Mama's newer four cheese signature is very nice but everyone agrees Mama's isn't as great as before. Napoli Vince is much better, a best kept secret. Just to mention one other, Camarra at Dufferin - Lawrence, its very good, unique, an airy yet thin pan style but Camarra's cheese leaves me down and hungover yet we're in this league. At least two new owners over the decades (including one who introduced some Greek dishes) the quality has remained close, generally consistent but perhaps the crust slightly less airy as before, you might experience each one as a unique creation, and I miss the ultra fresh and crispy Chef salad with half an egg, oil and vinegar. Lately Napoli's is a bit careful with the cheese but always excellent and occasionally not honoring posted hours. The pizza I find it a bit heavy, sleep inducing and probably it's something about cheese and my sensitivity but anyhow the cheese is very high quality compared to others. Updating with a three or four cheese option might be worth trying. When in the Bathurst - Finch area be sure to give it a try and you will probably love it like everyone else. Final thoughts: great customer service, low staff turnover, not irritable like at the franchise spots. It's old school traditional thin pizza... just the right balance of chewy, density and crispy and i want to say airy too but see above; It takes longer to prepare this style of crust and most pizza shops won't make such an effort. Less salty compared to most. Closed Monday; Opens at 4:00 PM, Order by 9:30 and 10:00 Friday and Saturday.
