I went with a girlfriend to Saint-Germain restaurant in Sillery, Qc. and we have never had such and experience like this before. First we were rushed into ordering. I always eat the same things when I go out but I always like to check out...the menu anyway. We weren't even finished yet but I imagine because we were chit chatting the male waiter must have thought we were in fact finished. He packed up the left over pizza in a box and put the bill on the table. We looked at each other and said ''oh well'' and looked at the bill. Well, of all things, I was just plain stunned. He charged my friend $1.00 for the glass of hot water that she asked for to accompany her meal. OMG. And that was the tip we left behind. I can't believe that a successful restaurant needed to charge a dollar for a glass of hot water! Never have we gone back. I don't think they cared. I do believe the reason was simply because the waiter heard us speaking English. This may have been a ''no no'' in Quebec. Either way, Saint-Germain will never see the color of my money again. With that said, I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody.
