There is a fine line between cool and pretentious when it comes to hipster/boutique coffee places. Sadly this one falls short. Considering how many great places there are for coffee in Hamilton it's quite surprising to find one where the coffee itself is sub-par. Ordered...a Cappuccino and a Flat White both of which came in an identical size and flavour - sour, under-extracted and too milky. Beware when ordering freshly squeezed juice at $3.75 as it is actually a commercially packaged plastic bottle, apparently freshly squeezed elsewhere (that elsewhere being a juice company up in Toronto). On a more positive note the breakfast sandwich was excellent and the home fries some of the best we've ever had, perfectly crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Tried a drip coffee and an almond croissant before leaving. The croissant was fairly standard and the drip was terrible to the point I poured it away a block down the street, honestly at this price point ($2.40 for a small) you really expect something far superior to Starbucks but I'd rather sip theirs any day. Service was friendly and brief but nothing special. Oh and the music is really annoying, subjective of course but not exactly relaxed listening. Emerald Coffee and Mulberry wipe the floor with this place.
