We went to Magic Sushi on Friday night at dinner time but was told there would be an hour wait. I don’t know if they take reservations - check before going. We ended up at Olive Garden. We went back on Saturday to Magic Sushi...at 3pm and they seated us immediately. For those used to all you can eat sushi in other cities, this is similar in concept - get handed a menu that describes the offerings and a wipe-off sheet where you record your requests. You can order multiple times until you are full. As many a-y-c-e places, it is posted that any wasted food would be charged over the regular price. This was the first place that actually said we would be charged - so be warned. We ordered too much as the portion sizes are much larger than the usual a-y-c-e. Recommendations: the tempura mushrooms were excellent, but most everything else was just average. The sushi rolls fell apart when bitten in two, and the salad was just onions, big head lettuce sheets (no way to cut and too bit to eat whole), and a few transparent cucumbers, drowning in a very watery dressing. The ton katsu was perfectly cooked, and very generous in size but the sauce (served on the cutlet - not on the side) was more catsup the katsu. Finally, the selection was limited - and some items such as the gyoza required a surcharge. Unfortunately, there are few sushi places I recommend in Winnipeg but this is okay if you need filling...
