I truly wanted to like this restaurant, it is a treat to have a solid French bistro that you can always depend on. French food is grounded in the classics and the kitchen tries too hard to put their own take on what doesn’t need...fiddling with. The gougeres were very strange…filled with an unnecessary cheese sauce that ruined what should be a simple cheesy light cream puff. The confit of duck leg had a pecan crust, again, totally unnecessary and ruined what should have been just a perfect crispy duck skin. The steak frites was very good because they stuck to the classic preparation. The service was excellent and the room is very charming. Please don’t try to fix what isn’t broken…classic French bistro fare.
