We flew to Montreal the first week in February as a surprise for my wife's birthday to see the Habs play the Ducks. After we checked into our hotel, we decided to head up the street to grab a bite to eat. We had read...the reviews of Notre Boeuf de Grace and thought that we'd give it a try. We were welcomed in by a friendly hostess who took us to a table upstairs in an area that overlooked the main floor and a friendly waiter took our drink order. We started with a glass of cabaret sauvignon ($8) for my wife and I trued their Chef's Shandy ($8). As a starter, our server recommended the menage-a-trots, an appetizer dish that had potato skins, fries and onion rings with really nice sauce on them ($14) and it was really tasty!! We then tried something called Devils On Horseback, which was a deep fried date wrapped in cheese and bacon and it was actually quite tasty ($8). I also tried their poutine, which was a little underwhelming for a Montreal poutine ($9). I was way too full to eat anything else by that point but my wife ordered the Biblical Brie Burger ($18) that was massive and tasted amazing!!! I had a Corona ($7.50) and a very sugary root beer ($3) and that was it. Though our server started out amazing - he kind of gave up on us as our meal progressed and it was hard to get anyones attention for more drinks and refills and even to get our bill, which was strange as there was hardly any other customers at the time. Overall - the food was amazing and worth every cent - the service was lacking and the location was terrific - I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to grab a good meal before going to the Hockey Game!!!More
