When I was visiting Vancouver, I was craving a good bowl of ramen, but at the same time I wanted something 'lighter' as well. I had ordered the miso ramen (which was under the 'lighter' portion of the menu), and it just didn't do it...for me. It included nappa cabbage, cha su, green onions, bamboo shoots and seaweed, I also added an egg. For someone who was craving something on the lighter side, the miso ramen was not light. Typically, your classic miso soup / broth has a mild flavor, and is light and 'brothy'. However, what I got was opposite of what I know to be miso soup. It was flavourful, but in a very salty way, and also, very rich. The cha su was very fatty which in turn made the broth oily. Bamboo shoots are usually a hit or a miss for me, and the ones I got in my soup didn't taste that good either. However, on a positive note, my boyfriend got the veggie ramen, (which I had also snuck a taste, and it was delicious!) I preferred it over to the miso ramen. Overall, cute little place on the corner of the street and a cozy atmosphere with okay service, (it took a little while for us to get water after having been seated for quite sometime, and we had to wait a while for water re-fills as well. Oddly, it didn't appear that the restaurant was busy). Either way, the miso ramen was a miss if you're craving something lighter.
