We visited Dock Lunch recently for a late lunch (1pm+/-) on a rainy day. This is a tiny restaurant setup with older, well-used furniture and a few hundred older books ("Serpico"!) in a bookcase along the wall ... I didn't count the number of seats,...but I'd say it was around 20 max. It wasn't too noisy and we were comfortable. Dock Lunch has a basic menu posted on the wall, with perhaps 4 or 5 items. Apparently they change daily. There is no formal menu, as far as I know. I ordered the beef dip ($18) and my lunch partner ordered the veggie equivalent ($16). We skipped drinks as we had a Skytrain ride home to face. The service was informative and friendly. My beef dip was just OK, with a bit of lettuce and horseradish in it (not on the side). A handful of potato chips came on the plate along with beef dripping in a bowl for mine. My partner said her veggie dip was OK. However, these were NOT large servings... I don't think the submarine buns (or maybe baguettes) were more than 6" long. The bill, with tip, came to $35 (before tip); it would've been closer to $45 with drinks, I'm sure. For a venue such as this, I don't think the meal was worth much more than $25 (before tip). The atmosphere, location, and waiter were fine but the prices killed the love for me.
