We discovered Trattoria on 4th Ave. during COVID, when we were unable to socialize with anyone not in our immediate household and we were exploring some restaurants we had not patronized before. We were blown away by the offerings and the ridiculously reasonable prices on...their Happy Hour menu; my husband loved their excellent house red wine which, at $5 for 5 oz., is a steal any way you pour it. We tried their bruschetta, unlike any bruschetta we have ever had (and, as lovers of Italian cuisine, we have had many iterations of that fabulous appetizer), and fell in love with it. In subsequent visits we have thoroughly enjoyed the fennel salad, the polenta fries, and the roasted Brussels sprouts. We have also, as restrictions eased, brought along 4 other couples who have all raved about the wine and the food, in particular the pizza, mussels, and stuffed artichokes. On our latest visit we were looked after by Ellie, a lovely young lady with a great sense of humour and honest recommendations; previously we were served by Sam, also a wonderful and charming young lady, and the ever-entertaining hands-on manager, Sergio. Short staffed as they have been, we have never felt hurried or disrespected on our visits; COVID has decimated the staffs of all restaurants and we understand servers, experienced and new alike, are doing the best they can under challenging conditions. Thank you, Trattoria, for hanging tough during this past year and a half; we are happy we discovered you and will continue to enjoy Happy Hours with you.
