My wife and I love the current trend of Ramen restaurants appearing throughout major Canadian cities. So when we recently visited Montreal we tried this place on our first night. OMG it was bad. The service was decidedly not Japanese style with deference, gentility and...expert anticipation. Instead we had water brought to our table, placed our order had no offer of a beverage. Then came the disappointment of the food. Agedashi tofu appetizer was overcooked, greasy and flavourless probably because the bonito flakes were incinerated. The ramen broth was watery and lacked any discernable flavour. The noodles were acceptable but just so. The pork on my dish was 4 very thick slices that dominated the dish to the extent that I felt they were trying to make up lack of quality with quantity. We paid cash to have no record of visiting this place and erasing it from memory. I don't like giving negative reviews but this place needs to upgrade significantly to keep up the high standards of genuine Japanese cuisine.
