We might have to start spelling consistency with a K... “konsistency”.....thanks to my repeat experience with one server at The Bistro restaurant in the Courtyard Marriott East hotel in Ottawa, Ontario. Sitting down to dinner, after a long day driving to this capitol city, we...expected consistency in our service and in the meal because we had been here before. The last time, our dinner order included a cobb salad and our excellent server was Karishma. I like consistency of excellence at a restaurant, or at any other business for that matter. That's why I suggest spelling consistency with a K, because this time our server turned out to be Karishma. Oh, what a happy koincidence, er, coincidence and she proved to be an excellent server once again. Our drink orders were taken and delivered promptly and cheerfully. I had a Kichesippi-brand beer, which is a local brew. That cost $8.00. My wife Nancy ordered a Southwide, which is made with gin, lime, sugar and mint. It cost $9.50. We enjoyed our drinks. We decided to go out on a limb and try something new, so we ordered shrimp “potstickers”. Never having had them before and being partial to shrimp, I wondered what they would be like. My wife ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla ($9.95) and I ordered a cobb salad ($12.50). Our shrimp “potstickers” arrived ahead of our main courses and we sipped our drinks and nibbled away on shrimp. They were quite tasty and worth ordering. It took a while, but our main courses arrived and both the quesadilla and the cob salad were bigger than we had imagined, which meant asking for a take-away container which was cheerfully provided. Good thing they have a little fridge in the rooms in this hotel! It was worth the wait for the food, especially since we're on a weekend away without pressing engagements. The cobb salad was impressive, served in a bowl and the ingredients layered in an attractive way. Presentation of food gives you a hint that the people in the kitchen care about what they are doing. Our total bill was $49.70 and tax added $6.47. The dining room at the Bistro is large and they have a variety of seating ranging from tables to booth-type. We enjoyed our dinner and were very pleased that excellent service is consistent. We shall return. The Bistro at Courtyard East is a sister restaurant to a Bistro restaurant at the Marriott chain's downtown Ottawa location. We enjoyed it!More
