We were pleasantly greeted upon our arrival. We had made a reservation for 4 for 6pm, and we were seated immediately. The restaurant was already fairly busy, and we were informed that there was another reservation for our table at 8:30. No problem since we...had other plans at 8pm. The restaurant itself is fairly narrow, with elevated tables up front, bench and chair seating along the wall toward the middle of the restaurant where it tapers off to a hallway that leads to the restrooms. The restaurant is fairly dark, irregardless of the front and side windows, and the kitchen/bar are mostly visible from the dining area. The ventilation didn’t seem optimal, it was fairly warm in the restaurant, and admittedly it was quite noisy. Our waitress, Cléa (I hope I spelled that correctly) was lovely, informative, and helpful. The menu isn’t huge, but we hungry, and tapas being what it is (small morsels/servings of food), we ordered 10 different dishes. The Louisville Lemonade was a great start to the meal. The tuna tartare was excellent. The summer salad was light and fresh with a mildly tart dressing. The beef Carpaccio was slightly salty but very tasty. The salt and pepper shrimp were delicious, perhaps a few too many green onions for my taste, and I kept waiting for a hint of spice to kick in. The fried chicken sliders were excellent. [We could have used some fresh plates around now, but the food was so good it didn’t really matter.] The scallops were amazing, perfectly seared, while the fennel salad lacked something...maybe just a touch of salt to make the taste pop. The Brussels sprouts were under cooked, bitter, overcomplicated flavor-wise, and neither the cheese nor the balsamic added positively to the dish. For a family that loves Brussels sprouts, we left the plate untouched. The tuna tacos and nacho fries were ok. The angus steak was excellent. They graciously removed the sprouts from the bill without being asked. By 7:30 they were so busy that the bar, booths, tables and standing areas were packed. Would love to go back again!More
