When you think about Hermann's, you think about the great jazz artists they have featured over the years. And not only thought, so often their concerts are 'themed'---and as well as hearing great music, we all get a terrific education about various jazz artists, composers,...and personalities. But you don't generally think of Hermann's and gourmet food in the same breath. Yet....the last two times I've been there (since the new management took over in July), the food has been exquisite. The first time I had one of the best mexican lime-chicken soups I've had as well as a delightful Caesar Salad. And tonight, I ordered the Minnestrone soup and wow! Delicious. And big. This was for a ujam night where people of varying degrees of skill get to sing and/or play with the band for a couple numbers. A really enjoyable time, super friendly atmosphere. I know some people complain about the service----and its true that it is a challenge for two people to cater to a sold out house. But they do.....and they seem to be extremely efficient and the one waitress who is always there seems so able to just go with the flow and not seem at all harried. Yes, sometimes the food takes a bit longer, but hey, we're here for the music and aren't going anywhere. So what's the rush?More
