Masa Shiroki has grown his own rice in BC as well as brewing sake for almost 10 years now. He uses the traditional Japanese methods for a unique Canadian product. Every visit to his shop is an education, Shiroki San can tell you about how...to drink sake and what it goes well with - especially good with a range of west coast cuisine. His products are available across Canada. I'm particularly enamored of both the the cloudy and the sparkling sake, but his Junmai Nama Genshu has won awards ( a traditional dry sake) He has salad dressings, ice cream, skin care products and a range of drinks ( non alcoholic) made from the kazu left after brewing( yes, sake is brewed like beer, not distiller like liquor). We have a fabulous time when we visit him in Vancouver. There are a few tables along the street, perfect for sitting back and watching the crowds on Granville and enjoying an amazing Canadian product!More
