I was having my second vaccination shot just around lunch time, so I thought a little celebration lunch would be in order, so I booked a post jab lunch at the Tap & Barrel location at the Convention Centre, where the vaccination clinic was being...held. I had been before to their Olympic Village location with my family, who live in Ucluelet, and we all liked it, so a encore seemed like a good idea. It was. The host Grace has taken my telephone booking, and she was there welcoming me when I arrived, taking me to a great little table located right at the edge of the patio, looking out at the water. Great spot for people and small plane and water craft watching. Not long afterward, I was greeted warmly by my server, Ryan. He was charming. I ordered what I had had last time with my family, Steak Frites, which came with a kale Caesar at 26.95, as it gave me a sense of being close to my son and his wonderful family. I had two pints of Strange Fellows Mr Hip at 9$ , one for my son for the upcoming Fathers’ Day and another for my father, both good men, who deserve having a glass raised to them. I was never hurried and was checked on often by Ryan. I was nearly into its happy hour, which is from 3 to 5 pm daily, and contemplated changing my brand and staying for a happy hour pint, but as I was totally satisfied with the two pints I had had, and I had drank to two wonderful men in my life, I stopped there. Its menu is wide-ranging with something for everyone, including a kids menu. It also offer a good selection of craft beers. My bill, before, tip came to 49$ . I left both happily fully-vaccinated and well looked after by Grace, Ryan and its one manager, Luiza. Tables were well sanitized between seatings and staff were all masked. Tap & Barrel is nestled away and can be difficult to find so go to the Olympic flame and then go towards the water and you will find it well tucked in. It has good patio space and inside dining. Definitely seek it out. Posted by S FullerMore
